Copenhagen Weather

As is typical for Denmark, Copenhagen weather is characterized by the four seasons. Summer weather typically reaches 20°C on average, and days here get long; summer solstice has 18 hours of daylight. Winter provides a dramatically different experience, with only seven hours of sunlight during winter solstice. This makes autumns quite cold, dipping down to 5°C during November. The variation in sunlight hours is due to the city’s northern latitude.

Winter Copenhagen weather is cold, averaging around 1°C in January and February, the city’s coldest months. While Copenhagen weather in the autumn resembles some cities’ winters, spring is a wonderful time to visit. After the winter darkness has passed, locals enjoy spending their time outside in the city parks and outdoor restaurants.

Spring is arguably the best time to visit Copenhagen, as the city bursts back to life following the sleepy winter season. Not only is the Copenhagen weather great at this time of year, but you’ll visit before the summer rush of tourists—which means cheap flights to Copenhagen are common, as is affordable hotel fare. Summer is also a comfortable time to book flights to Denmark; the weather is comfortable, and if it gets too hot, you can have a swim in the city’s harbor—regarded as the cleanest urban waterfront in the world.
