Cheapest Flights to Malta

Found on the south of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea, Malta is a small archipelago made of three islands: Malta Island, Comino and Gozo. Malta Island is the country’s main population centre, but all islands are worth visiting for their beautiful nature preserves, subterranean caves and gorgeous Malta beaches. Most notable, perhaps, are the country’s ancient temples that date back to the Neolithic era—the oldest standing buildings in the world. Those interested in human history will love Malta holidays to discover impressive Neolithic sites. The city is easily accessible via Malta flights; one airport services all three of the nation’s islands, and is located close to the capital city and its major sights. Booking cheap flights with tripoki ensures an enjoyable stay at a fraction of the cost you’d find elsewhere.

Popular things to do in Malta include exploring its many historic sites, most notably the city of Mdina. This citadel was built in the Bronze age and is home to winding streets, baroque cathedrals and the ancestral homes of nobles. Other things to do in Malta are related to the islands’ prehistoric histories. A must-visit is Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, an ancient burial site entombing over 7,000 bodies. The many temples spread throughout the islands—built by those at Hal Saflieni Hypogeum—are some of the main tourist attractions.

Malta Weather

Malta weather is rather warm but not uncomfortable; with the warmest winters compared to European capital cities, the country makes for a great destination year-round. The daily mean in August, the hottest month, is around 27°C. January and February, the coldest months, are still quite mild with a daily mean temperature of 12°C. Malta weather is known for frequent sunshine, and the city has more sunshine hours per year than northern European cities.

Snow is rare on the islands due to their warm climate. Rain is typical in the fall and winter, and summer is typically dry. With a lack of rain and comfortable weather, summer is a great season for Malta holidays. That said, June through August are peak tourist season, so Malta flights are costlier than in the cooler months. It’s also worth noting that much of the island restaurants and businesses shut down in August for the Malta holiday season—so keep that in mind if booking trips to Malta in the summer.

If you don’t mind rain, the warm weather in the winter can be an ideal and tempting cure for the winter doldrums by booking flights to Malta. You’ll also compete with fewer crowds at the main attractions. What’s a better way to spice up a frigid winter than to bask in the sun on Malta beaches?
